How are honorary consuls selected?
Honorary consuls are chosen based on their local networks, professional experience, and commitment to support international cooperation. They are respected figures in business, academia, or public service, serving as trusted representatives. Their appointment is formalized through a designation by the King of the Netherlands and recognition by Chile.
Chile is a geographically long country, and to ensure adequate service we currently have five honorary consuls, covering regions from the far North to the deep South.
