Honorary consul in the Tarapacá Region

Among the tasks carried out are assisting Dutch nationals with their passport applications and supporting Dutch citizens deprived of liberty, providing guidance in obtaining visas for tourists who require them, and participating in activities that offer opportunities for mutual benefit, such as circular economy, sustainable logistics, among others.

I participate in the Consular Corps of the Region, with whom we build networks across the public and private sectors, taking part in relevant regional activities (public accounts, anniversaries, among others). In addition, we hold planning meetings and social gatherings, and we make monthly contributions that allow us, collectively, to be present at commemorations (floral arrangements).

My tasks as honorary consul:

  • Assisting Dutch citizens with passport applications.

  • Supporting Dutch nationals deprived of liberty.

  • Guidance in obtaining visas for tourists who require them.

  • Participation in activities that promote opportunities for mutual benefit.

In 2022 I assumed the responsibility of representing the Netherlands as Honorary Consul in the Tarapacá Region. It has been a great opportunity to continue the work that my father carried out for nearly 26 years in the region, keeping alive a legacy of commitment and service.

Our ties with the Netherlands stem from the nature of our family business: we have belonged to the logistics‑port sector for 47 years, which directly connects us to economic and commercial matters essential to the bilateral relationship.

Participation in the Regional Consular Corps

Claudia Matamala is an active member of the Tarapacá Consular Corps, where she builds networks with the public and private sectors. She participates in relevant regional activities such as public accounts and anniversaries, as well as planning meetings and social gatherings. The regions she represents are: the provinces of Arica, Parinacota, Iquique, Tamarugal, Tocopilla, El Loa, and the province of Antofagasta.
