Adrian Hamann Henkes

Honorary consul in Puerto Montt

Since 2012 I have had the honor of serving as Honorary Consul in Puerto Montt, continuing my grandfather’s legacy and contributing to the relationship between Chile and the Netherlands in the regions I represent: the provinces of Llanquihue, Chiloé, Palena, Coyhaique, Aysén, General Carrera, and Capitán Prat.

My Tasks as Honorary Consul

  • Assisting Dutch citizens with passport applications.

  • Supporting Dutch nationals deprived of liberty.

  • Guidance in obtaining visas for tourists who require them.

  • Participation in activities that promote opportunities for mutual benefit.

I am the grandson of Herman Henkes Boom, a Dutch immigrant who arrived at the beginning of the last century to live in Punta Arenas. My grandfather Henkes also served as Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Punta Arenas during the 1950s and 1960s. That tradition of service and connection with the Netherlands has deeply marked my life.

I maintain permanent communication with relatives bearing the Henkes surname in the Netherlands, which reinforces the historical and emotional ties that unite our families with the Dutch community.
