Senior Policy Support Officer (Culture, Human Rights & Public Diplomacy)
Full‑time (37.5 hours per week, 2 years) – Scale 8 (starting from 11,846 PLN gross per month. Previous working experience and knowledge and skills are used to determine the starting salary).
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Warsaw is looking
for a proactive, analytically strong and creative Senior Policy
Support Officer.
Within this position you will be part of the
political division team of the embassy, you will enjoy a modern
workplace and engage with a wide range of partners in the fields of
culture, human rights and education. The position offers the

insights and initiatives contribute to the strengthening of
Dutch‑Polish bilateral relations.
About the Embassy
The embassy is the primary diplomatic mission of the Netherlands
in Poland and is led by an ambassador, the highest-ranking diplomat
and personal representative of the Dutch Head of State King Willem
Alexander.
The embassy plays an important role in strengthening
bilateral cooperation, is active with regard to advocacy and
implements public diplomacy projects.
The Dutch embassy offers a
modern, well‑equipped working environment where staff members support
each other and the Dutch government in a professional and
collaborative atmosphere.
Working for the Dutch government in
Warsaw means working at a medium‑sized embassy of around 35 staff. The
Embassy combines an international diplomatic setting with close
teamwork and meaningful engagement with the Polish society.
Your Role
The job description of the Senior Policy Support Officer is
diverse and wide-ranging.
As Senior Policy Support Officer you
will have a central role in the implementation of Dutch policies in
the fields of culture, human rights, and public diplomacy.
You
will independently analyze developments, identify opportunities for
bilateral cooperation and provide policy input that contributes to the
Embassy’s strategic objectives. You will manage and administrate
project portfolios, maintain and extend a network, and ensure that
meetings, missions and events are organized effectively and
professionally.
You will work regularly with other teams in the
embassy, including our economic and trade department.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzing and presenting relevant information to the senior management on developments in Poland in the fields of human rights and culture in a timely and accurate manner.
- Identifying opportunities to engage with Polish society that align with Dutch policy priorities.
- Drafting appraisals for funding of projects in line with Dutch cultural-, human rights and public diplomacy policies.
- Administration of the Embassy’s culture, human rights and public diplomacy project portfolios.
- Informing Dutch and Polish organizations on the allocation of Dutch subsidies, including available cultural Funds.
- Recommend Polish candidates for visitor programmes of Dutch cultural institutions and funds.
- Build and maintain a strong network of partners in Poland in the fields of human rights, culture and public diplomacy.
- Maintain active contact with government bodies, NGOs, cultural institutions and professional networks in both Poland and the Netherlands.
- Representing the Embassy at events, meetings and conferences.
- Initiate and organise meetings, conferences, calls for funding and missions.
- (co-)organize incoming visits of Ministers, senior civil servants, as well as visitors from the cultural sector
- (co-)organize duty trips for diplomatic staff, the Ambassador and deputy Head of Mission.
- Ensure accurate administration, record‑keeping and adherence to procedures and protocols.
What You Bring
- Higher professional education level (HBO) and 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of and affinity with cultural, political, societal developments in Poland and the Netherlands.
- Skills in analyzing developments, drafting advisory reports and responding effectively to enquiries.
- Experience in organizing meetings, missions and events.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work with ICT systems and maintain accurate records.
- Fluency in English, Mastering Polish and Dutch would be an asset.
