The EU Presidency Support Officer provides in general complex administrative, logistical or organisational support (e.g. official visits, incoming/outgoing missions, seminars, official trips and working visits) and is in particular responsible for planning and logistics around incoming delegations of officials from the Netherlands who participate in EU meetings during Ireland’s 6 Month Presidency of the Council of the European Union (1 July – 31 December 2026).
SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Embassy of The Netherlands in Ireland is looking to recruit for the role of EU Presidency Support Officer. This is a temporary full-time role, from June 2026 until December 2026.
The EU Presidency Support Officer is part of the Embassy Management Support Office and is expected to have a proactive approach and be able to plan and organize meetings and assignments primarily connected to the EU Presidency in Ireland.
They will, among other things, act as a contact person with suppliers, travel companies, authorities and other Irish and Dutch stakeholders.
They handle (e)mail and identify urgent communication on their own initiative and insight.
Professionalism, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are of utmost importance.
RESULT AREAS
Organisational, planning, logistical and administrative support activities
Areas of responsibility:
- Liaising with contacts in relation to official and ministerial visits from The Netherlands.
- Coordination of arrival and departure, transport, accommodation and other logistics of any inward visits, in cooperation with the relevant Minister’s Office and Departments.
- Providing logistical support for meetings and events during the EU Presidency.
- Assisting with public outreach and communications related to The Netherlands’ participation at the EU Presidency.
- Working with the Embassy team on other projects and events, as required.
FRAMEWORK
- Internal guidelines for procedures, regulations and legislation including the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ rules and regulations on integrity.
- The employee will work within the Embassy Management Support Office.
- The employee will be accountable to the Deputy Head of the Mission.
- Their assessment is based on the support tasks performed.
CONTACTS
- With staff of the Embassy.

- Hotels, drivers, logistic companies, airport staff, etc..
- Irish and Dutch Ministries, government agencies, public and private organizations.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong administrative, planning and organisational skills.
- Experience with Windows-driven MS Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Understanding of civil service and political interests and sensitivities, of primary processes and of administrative, organisational and functional relationships
- Experienced in handling in-person contacts as well as queries over the phone, in a professional and client friendly manner.
- Experience in collecting and interpreting data and compiling management information.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Experience in using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION / ADDITIONAL TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of Dutch is a strong advantage.
- Basic knowledge of EU institutions and Dutch ministries.
- Knowledge of Ireland, the Irish government structure as well as the Irish culture and society is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Embassy is responsible for the promotion of the interests of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ireland in all its aspects. It has a small and dynamic team of 12 staff members, which is primarily responsible for the political, economic/commercial and consular activities. Policy wise, focus is on EU affairs and on bilateral economic relations. The team consists of 2 expat staff members (Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission) and 10 local staff members. Within the team, cooperation is important and people are expected to be flexible when it comes to concrete tasks, including helping others.
The EU Presidency Support Officer, together with the other Embassy Management Support Officers, will be part of a team in which the tasks are divided and can or must be taken care of in a replacement relationship.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Gross monthly salary ranges between EUR 3618,00 and EUR 4582,00 depending on the level of experience/qualifications. A 13th month is payable in addition, adjusted pro rata.
- Contribution to private health insurance.
- 23 days of annual leave (pro rata).
- Hours of work are 35 per week, with standard office hours from Monday to Friday. Please note that for this position a considerable degree of flexibility will be required given the nature of the EU Presidency meeting schedule .
