Why the Embassy initiated Refugees Connected - Greece
Refugees Connected: Linking Talent and Opportunity
On the occasion of World Refugee Day 2026 and the 75th anniversary of the Refugee Convention, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Greece proudly launched Refugees Connected.
Together with Agrinow and other partners, this pilot project links recognised refugees in Greece with employers facing labour shortages. Our aim is simple: to turn untapped potential into shared opportunities.
For the Netherlands, protecting refugees and supporting their integration from day one go hand in hand. Employment is key: it provides income, dignity, independence and a sense of belonging. When people can work, contribute and build a future, they settle more successfully in their new communities.
Refugees Connected is part of the wider Dutch–Greek cooperation on migration and integration, and builds on the efforts of the Greek state, municipalities, NGOs and local communities. By connecting refugees to jobs, we want to help them move from uncertainty to stability and support Greek employers in finding the skills they need.
Through this initiative, the Embassy underlines a fundamental belief: behind every statistic there is a person with hopes, talents and dreams. Refugees Connected is about giving those talents a chance to grow, for the benefit of refugees, employers and Greek society as a whole.
