For decades, the United States and the Netherlands have stood side by side to keep our world safe. This isn't just about shared values; it is about real, day-to-day capability. The Netherlands is increasing its responsibility for its own security and meeting NATO commitments.

The Netherlands backs up this commitment with serious investments in modern hardware that allows Dutch and US forces to train and operate closely together. We fly the same F-35 fighter jets, deploy the same Patriot air defense networks, and launch the same Tomahawk cruise missiles. In 2025, the Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter proved this seamless compatibility by successfully test-launching a US Tomahawk missile.

The Netherlands is also helping to build a stronger European pillar within NATO. The Netherlands has committed to the NATO 5 percent target (3.5 percent core plus 1.5 percent broader security) agreed at the 2025 The Hague Summit.

Together with other European countries, we are investing in the capabilities that keep the alliance strong and credible. We are building the future together. Dutch engineers are expanding allied industrial capacity in a more self-sufficient Europe. From co-producing advanced military tech to deploying the fully Dutch-built PAMI-1 satellite operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, we are securing the frontline of cyber, intelligence, and space.

The security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands also extends across the Atlantic. The Caribbean parts of the Kingdom give us a strategic presence in a region that is vital for transatlantic trade and stability. Together with the United States and regional partners, we work from these islands to strengthen maritime security, improve border control, and tackle organized crime and drug trafficking.

By combining Dutch, Caribbean, and American capabilities in this way, we help keep the wider region, and our shared transatlantic space, safer and more resilient.
