Honorary consuls in the United States

The Netherlands is represented throughout the United States. The embassy and consulates-general are staffed by diplomats, under the leadership of the ambassador and consuls-general respectively. They are employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. In areas where no embassy or consulate-general is present, honorary consuls are often present as Dutch representatives. The honorary consuls are a valuable part of the worldwide network of the Netherlands. They open doors for business and facilitate visits, assist in natural disasters, emergencies and evacuations. Often the honorary consuls do their important work behind the scenes.
