Orange exchange - United States

OrangeXchangeUSA

A digital platform connecting the Dutch and American FinTech communities

Financial services and the Netherlands have a long history together. The Amsterdam stock exchange is considered the oldest "modern" securities market in the world.

The Amsterdam Stock Exchange was established in 1602 by the Dutch East India Company (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie, or 'VOC') for dealings in its printed stocks and bonds. It was subsequently renamed the Amsterdam Bourse and was the first globally to formally begin trading in securities.

We continue to build on this heritage and focus in modern times as FinTech as one of our focus industries in the USA. We believe there is potential for more business exchanges and investments between the Netherlands and the USA, especially in the Southeast region.

A flourishing FinTech scene

With the headquarters of Bank of America (including Merrill Lynch) and BB&T Bank as well as the very large  back office of Wells Fargo, Charlotte (North Carolina) is the second financial center of the US. Atlanta (Georgia) is the US Payment Processing Capital, where almost 70 per cent of all payment card transactions are processed.

The Netherlands has a flourishing FinTech start-up/scale-up scene, with a desire to enter the US market. But of course, this is not an easy endeavor (with COVID-19 and restricted travel complicating matters even further).

Consequently, the Netherlands Consulate General in Atlanta has created an online platform where Dutch FinTechs can virtually meet with the Atlanta FinTech community (i.e. “local Mentors”), under the name OrangeXchangeUSA.

The name of our new FinTech platform reflects our ambitions well and we’re looking for an opportunity to connect with our US counterparts.

Several purposes

We envision this platform to serve several purposes: a meeting place, provide information on the Atlanta FinTech sector and community, Atlanta being the FinTech gateway to the USA, provide practical info on how to get up-and-running in the US, match-making forum for mentoring, partnering, business ventures etc.

To safeguard the quality of this platform, this will be an invite-online program and a selection of the participants will take place.
