Embassy Tulip Award 2025 presented to JurFem
On October 17th, 2025, Dutch Ambassador to Ukraine Alle Dorhout presented the Ukrainian women-lawyers association “JurFem” with the “Embassy Tulip Award” during a reception in Kyiv. This award is presented annually by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine since 2018 to prominent Ukrainian human rights defenders.

Khrystyna Kit, the Chairwoman of Ukrainian women lawyers association “JurFem”, has received the symbolic award for the organisation’s work on protection of the survivors of the gender based violence and conflict related sexual violence and for promotion of the survivor-centered approach to violence against women cases.
The organization will also receive 5,000 euro to finance its further activities.
Presenting the award, Ambassador Dorhout emphasized:
“The
Netherlands supports Ukraine with billions of euro’s each year in its
fight against Russian aggression, both military and non-military. An
Award for “JurFem” is also our way to support Ukrainian civil society
and Human Rights Defenders in ensuring the rights of all people are protected.”
“Gender equality and preventing violence against women is a major priority under Netherlands Human Rights Policy,’’ said Ambassador Dorhout. He pointed out that in the last decade, there has been significant progress in Ukraine regarding gender equality, and the Netherlands is proud to assist Ukraine in this effort.
Upon receiving the Embassy Tulip Award, Khrystyna Kit stated the following: “Without survivor centered approach, we cannot ensure a sense of justice that is multidimensional and includes not only holding perpetrators accountable, but also the right to be heard, to receive comprehensive assistance, reparations, as well as recognition and justice at the international level.”
The Chairwoman also noted that this is why “JurFem” works not only at the level of policy change and integration of the gender component into legislation but also develops and implements best practices in ensuring justice for women and girls affected by gender-based violence.
In 2025 the winner of the Embassy Tulip Award from Ukraine becomes one of ten nominees for the global Human Rights Tulip Award. The winner of the Global Human Rights Tulip will be announced on 9 December by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs. All ten nominees will join the award ceremony in the Hague, as well as specially designed training and networking program.
