Thank you Mr. President,
I am honored to deliver this statement on behalf of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. We fully align with the European Union's statement and thank the High Commissioner and the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar for their reports. 

The Benelux countries remain deeply concerned about the human rights situation and ongoing violence in Myanmar, including the escalating conflict in Rakhine State, which has continued to deteriorate since the military coup in 2021. The Rohingya and other minority communities continue to face dire conditions and systematic discrimination.
The so-called elections of December 2025 and January 2026 took place in a context in which the basic conditions for genuine, free and fair elections were not met. Since then, indiscriminate attacks by and human rights violations committed primarily by Myanmar’s military have not decreased. 

We remain deeply concerned about the airstrikes targeting civilians. We urge the military to cease the aerial bombardments. We call all parties to the conflict to abide by international law, including international humanitarian law, and to ensure immediate, safe and unimpeded humanitarian access to all communities in need.
The Benelux countries remain committed to the UN and ASEAN’s efforts towards a peaceful solution, including ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus. We reaffirm our support for the efforts of IIMM. We call for full accountability for the crimes committed and reiterate our support for international justice mechanisms. Accountability must be part of the solution for Myanmar.
