We thank the Fact-Finding Mission for its report.

The Netherlands is deeply concerned about the growing use of drones, which has expanded the reach of hostilities far beyond the frontlines. Civilians, humanitarian workers, schools, hospitals, markets and displacement camps are intentionally being targeted – a gross violation of international law. We are particularly concerned about the differentiated harm inflicted on women and girls by these attacks, as well as through the continued use of conflict-related sexual violence as a weapon of war

We also thank the Mission for its detailed reporting on the broader networks of weapons, fighters, training and logistical support provided by external backers. It is unacceptable that the UN arms embargo is being violated. We call on all States to refrain from any actions that fuel, intensify or prolong this war.

It is essential that the Sudanese people obtain accountability. To achieve this, the work of the Fact-Finding Mission must continue, as well as all other efforts to investigate violations and preserve evidence. We will continue our engagement in the quest for accountability as member of the Sudan Core Group and via the Coalition for Atrocity Prevention and Justice in Sudan.

How can the international community help ensure that the evidence collected by the Fact-Finding Mission and other stakeholders is preserved, so that it can be used effectively for criminal proceedings and potential future reparations?
