Thank you Mr. President,

First, we congratulate the High Commissioner for the extension of his mandate. 
Human rights are a core pillar of the UN and the foundation of dignity, stability and fair progress for all. Over the past two years, a broad group of countries has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the UN human rights system. The Netherlands, together with the High Commissioner and Mexico, will organize a high level side event at the UNGA High Level Week to discuss how we can move from commitment to concrete action as part of the recently launched. We invite all of you to attend.

We also want to express our grave concern about the deeply worrying trends pertaining to the safety of aid workers, and in particular the violence against and sometimes even deliberate targeting of humanitarian workers in for instance the DRC, Sudan, South Sudan, Ukraine, Syria, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Afghanistan, Myanmar and Haiti. These attacks directly undermine the international rules based order, and also further endanger the civilian populations affected by conflict. 
We call for an end to the impunity and increased efforts to ensure accountability. 

Following our final year as member of this Council, the Netherlands will remain firmly committed and engaged to addressing human rights issues worldwide.
