Budget Day 2025 - NL Host Nation
Budget Day 2025
Tuesday 16 September was Prinsjesdag – or Budget Day – the day on which the state opening of parliament take place. At this annual ceremony, His Majesty the King delivers the Speech from the Throne in which the government presents its plans for the year ahead. This year, the venue was once again the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theatre).
As ever, besides members of the Royal House, the States General and the government, representatives of the diplomatic corps were in attendance.
Of course, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development were also present. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides key input for the Budget Memorandum and the Speech from the Throne. The Protocol and Host Country Affairs Department (DPG) is responsible for preparing events involving the Royal House and the diplomatic corps. After the Speech from the Throne the traditional Vin d’Honneur was held, at which members of the diplomatic corps have the opportunity to mingle and to raise a glass to the King.
The day was a resounding success and DPG would like to thank the diplomatic corps for attending.
