On 8 July, a group of 17 Australian students visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of a programme by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

UNITAR is part of the United Nations system and offers training and knowledge-sharing events in the fields of diplomacy, international cooperation and sustainable development. This summer, four UNITAR student groups visited the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Mr Paul van den IJssel, Ambassador for International Organisations, and Ms Hetty de Weerd, Deputy Ambassador for International Organisations, gave lectures on the role of the Netherlands as host nation to international organisations and of The Hague as City of Peace and Justice.

It’s always a pleasure to talk about our work for international organisations and the Netherlands’ host country policy,’ Ambassador Van den IJssel and Deputy Ambassador De Weerd said. ‘It’s a valuable opportunity to share our knowledge and engage with enthusiastic and curious audiences.’

It was an inspiring afternoon filled with interesting questions, new sights and, of course, a lovely groep photo as a lasting memory!
