Since August 2022, Ewout de Wit is the Consul General for South India, based in Bengaluru.

Before starting as Consul General, Ewout served as Deputy Ambassador in Nigeria (2019-2022) and in Kuwait (2012-2015).

Ewout joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998, and during his career served also at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to NATO in Brussels, and the Embassy in Egypt, as well as in several positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, including most recently as Policy Coordinator for the Gulf in the North Africa & Middle East Department (2015-2019).

Ewout has extensive experience in both bilateral and multilateral relations, development cooperation, political and security affairs, and foremost in strengthening trade and investment.

Ewout holds a degree in Economics from Maastricht University. Ewout joined the Diplomatic Training of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately after his university graduation.
