The route, designed for family enjoyment and to raise awareness about the importance of cycling as a sustainable, healthy, and environmentally friendly means of transportation, covered 8.2 kilometers.

“In the Netherlands, 25% of daily trips are made by bicycle, with 4.5 billion bicycle trips and 15.5 billion kilometers traveled each year. There are 24.1 million bicycles, more than the 18 million inhabitants. With the Orange Bike Ride, we want to share that experience, encouraging people to consider this mode of transportation not only as a recreational option, but also as an accessible and sustainable alternative. This activity is also a demonstration of the bilateral commitment to reducing emissions and creating cleaner and healthier cities,” said H.E. Frank Keurhorst, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Dominican Republic.

Likewise, the Mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Dio Astacio , emphasized: “This Bike Ride reaffirms our commitment to the well-being of its citizens. We want Santo Domingo Este to be a space where people feel safe walking and cycling, enjoying a healthier and more humane environment.”

With this event, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Dominican Republic seeks to consolidate the Orange Bike Ride as an inspirational civic platform that promotes healthier lifestyles and strengthens cooperation between the Dominican Republic and the Netherlands in sustainable mobility and responsible urban planning.
