Honorary consul in the Tarapacá Region

My work as honorary consul seeks to strengthen ties between Chile and the Netherlands, offering support to the Dutch community and promoting initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and international cooperation.

My tasks as honorary consul:

  • Assisting Dutch citizens with passport applications.

  • Supporting Dutch nationals deprived of liberty.

  • Guidance in obtaining visas for tourists who require them.

  • Participation in activities that promote opportunities for mutual benefit.

In 2022 I assumed the responsibility of representing the Netherlands as Honorary Consul in the Tarapacá Region. It has been a great opportunity to continue the work that my father carried out for nearly 26 years in the region, keeping alive a legacy of commitment and service.

Our ties with the Netherlands stem from the nature of our family business: we have belonged to the logistics‑port sector for 47 years, which directly connects us to economic and commercial matters essential to the bilateral relationship.

Participation in the Regional Consular Corps

Claudia Matamala is an active member of the Tarapacá Consular Corps, where she builds networks with the public and private sectors. She participates in relevant regional activities such as public accounts and anniversaries, as well as planning meetings and social gatherings. The regions she represents are: the provinces of Arica, Parinacota, Iquique, Tamarugal, Tocopilla, El Loa, and the province of Antofagasta.
