Concerts of the Dutch choir Ilmatar in Konjic, Sarajevo and Mostar in February - Bosnia and Herzegovina
Concerts of the Dutch choir Ilmatar in Konjic, Sarajevo and Mostar in February
In February 2026, an exchange of cultural treasures between the Ilmatar and Sejfullah choirs will take place. The exchange is followed with three inspiring concerts in Konjic, Sarajevo, and Mostar. The program celebrates the living musical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Balkan region, offering a musical journey in which different musical traditions meet.
The Ilmatar Chamber Choir and its
28 members, under the direction
of conductor Imre Ploeg, regularly collaborates with artists
from all over the world, creating impressive programs. Thanks to the collaboration with the Sejfullah
choir, the program focuses on sevdah, as well as rhythmic,
lively and spiritual choral music from North Macedonia,
Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia. It is performed in the style
of Byzantine, as well as the Ottoman, Sephardic and Orthodox
singing traditions. Several works in this program feature
new arrangements by Balkan composers.
The cultural exchange and concerts, with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, are initiated and implemented by Habitat Culture Fest and Herzegovina Lodges. The concert in Sarajevo is an official part of this year's edition of the renowned Sarajevo Winter festival.
The entrance to all concerts is free of charge. If you would like to ensure seating place(s) for one or more of the concerts, please write an e-mail to sar-pca@minbuza.nl.
