The Kingdom of the Netherlands has been re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO)!

Re-election success!

After many months of preparation, events and activities, the Kingdom of the Netherlands has been re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), underscoring our enduring commitment to shaping a safe, sustainable, and resilient global maritime sector.

As a near-continuous member since 1959, we are honored to continue working alongside fellow Council members to tackle the sector’s most pressing challenges; from advancing the transition to clean shipping to enhancing safety at sea.

In a world where collaboration across borders is essential, we look forward to contributing constructively to a maritime sector that is not only more sustainable and secure but also future-ready for generations to come.

The Netherlands works closely with other nations through international agreements and strong cooperation, towards building a clean, climate-neutral, and future-proof maritime sector. By maintaining our position at the IMO Council in category B, we can continue with this work!
