Dutch Trade Missions to UK: Offshore Wind and Sustainable Mobility - United Kingdom
Dutch Trade Missions to UK: Offshore Wind and Sustainable Mobility
June was a busy month for our Economic Trade team, with two Trade missions to the UK seeing Dutch businesses make contact with the UK markets for Offshore Wind and Sustainable Mobility.
Offshore Wind Trade Mission to the UK
A delegation of Dutch businesses was in the UK for an Offshore Wind Trade Mission. The mission started with a seminar focused on Floating Offshore Wind, followed by a networking reception hosted by Ambassador Paul Huijts at the Residence. UK-based Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Dutch engineering consultancy Haskoning and geo-data solutions provider Fugro shared their insights on the latest developments and potential opportunities. Over the next two days, the Dutch delegation attended the Global Offshore Wind exhibition at the Netherlands Pavilion, to network, share expertise, and explore collaboration opportunities with the UK market.
Ambitions for Offshore Wind
The Netherlands and the United Kingdom have clear ambitions for the continued development of (floating) offshore wind, with strong goals and policy frameworks. For many years now, the Dutch supply chain for the Wind industry has been very active in the UK. It was great to see these Dutch companies well represented at the Netherlands Pavilion of the Global Offshore Wind exhibition, hosted by trade body NMT-IRO, alongside many more Dutch companies with their pavilions. Offshore wind is a crucial part of the UK Government’s “missions” for the energy sector and economic growth, and the Dutch offshore wind industry is keen to continue offering relevant solutions to this ever-innovating industry.
Looking for Opportunities
As the UK leads in floating wind development, the Embassy is currently working with the trade body Holland Home of Wind Energy to identify opportunities in this part of the UK’s wind sector; a strategic preparatory program has been initiated to forge a long-term public-private partnership with the UK on floating wind in industry, ports and R&D. The first year of the project aims to identify complementarity and synergies with the United Kingdom. We are looking forward to continuing this journey at the Floating Offshore Wind exhibition in Aberdeen in November.
Sustainable Mobility Trade Mission
In the same week, the Embassy welcomed a Dutch delegation focused on
sustainable mobility to London. The mission started with a
scene-setting seminar at the Embassy, where the Dutch companies were
joined by speakers from Transport for London, Lime and London &
Partners, providing useful updates on transport developments in
London, including the various modes of public transport, transport
shifts to micro mobility and the transitions to greener/smarter
mobility modes. Coordinated with the Regional Development Agency for
Utrecht, the delegation then attended the Netherlands Pavilion at MOVE
RE-IMAGINED 2025 for the third year.
Connecting and learning
10 Dutch businesses were represented at the NL Pavilion this year, ranging from electric cargo bike services to software solutions for electric charging. They were: Arcadis, Automicle, Eco-Movement LEAP24, Magic Lane, MODYN, Cargo Cycling, TEAMFIETS, Rabobank, and NRG Group. They moved, connected and exchanged with exhibitors and visitors alike during the two-day exhibition. It was another great opportunity to explore the UK market, and its trends and opportunities. Let’s see what moves we make towards 2026!
