The Netherlands and the United Kingdom cooperate closely to support Ukraine. It was a pleasure to have Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans here to visit the joint training operation for Ukraine led by the UK. Since the Russian invasion in 2022, more than 56.000 Ukrainians have been trained by allies in Operation Interflex. The Netherlands is working closely on these efforts, with approximately 90 military personnel involved in the training.

The Minister spoke with the deputy commander of Operation Interflex about it's future and engaged with the Dutch soldiers on the ground to see and hear about their crucial work firsthand. It provided the chance to speak with trainers and trainees.

Deputy Head of Mission Annemijn van den Broek accompanied the Minister, "The professionalism we encountered is exemplary. The instructors provide tactical and technical training in trenches, weaponry, drone and cyber threats, medical care, and international law. The dedication and skills of the instructors equip the brave recruits to embark on their mission to defend their country and the eastern border of Europe."

Since 2022, the Netherlands has been part of the UK-led, multinational military Operation Interflex, in which army units - including members of the Royal Netherlands Army - are providing training to Ukrainian military personnel.
