Embassy Management

The management of the Embassy is responsible for the representation for the Dutch government in the United Kingdom. The Ambassador represents the Dutch head of state on official occasions in the United Kingdom. In addition to the representational function, the Ambassador and his deputy also manage the personnel working in the embassy. The current Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Kingdom is Mr. Karel J.G. van Oosterom.

Defence Department

The Defence Department of the Dutch Embassy in London is responsible for looking after Dutch defence interests in the United Kingdom.

Culture, Education and Communication Department

The Culture, Education and Communication Department promotes Dutch culture in the United Kingdom and supports Anglo-Dutch cultural collaborations. We link Dutch and British parties with each other, assist in funding projects and help to promote cultural cooperation between Dutch and British 'North Sea Neighbours' via various (social) media channels.

In Higher Education we also build and expand collaborations between organisations from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The department maintains contact with the press on behalf of the entire Embassy, manages the Embassy's websites and social media channels and is responsible for the corporate communication activities of the Embassy.

Political Department

The Political Department of the Dutch Embassy in London is responsible for the representation of Dutch political interests in the United Kingdom by working with the British government, as well as political and civil society organizations. We follow British EU and foreign policy, and domestic political and social developments in the UK. The priority themes of the Political Department are closely related to international and European current affairs. A key focus is also the strengthening and deepening of Dutch-British bilateral relations.
