Vacancy at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi has a vacancy for a temporary combined position of Management assistant/ General affairs officer. The vacancy is for 35 hours per week (fulltime ) . Closing date for applications: 25th of February 2026.

General

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi, together with the Consulate General in Dubai, promotes the interests of the Netherlands in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and aims to strengthen the relationship between both countries in many fields.

The management assistant/ general affairs officer will work within the administrative cluster of the Embassy and will report directly to the operational manager. The administrative cluster is responsible for the operational management of the Embassy (personnel/human resources, organisational and financial duties).

Tasks

  • independently manages own secretarial/administrative work, prioritising specific tasks (includingdiary and mailbox management, incoming and outgoing correspondence and telephonecommunication);

  • executes administrative processes such as archiving, mailbox and message traffic, financialadministration incl. the physical mail;

  • responds to, or coordinates the response to a wide-ranging variety of questions, requests andcalls;

  • prioritises, assesses urgency, makes connections and weighs up the consequences of takingaction, monitors progress and completion of tasks, identifies issues and sends reminders;

  • provides general information regarding substance and procedure and administrative andorganisational processes;

  • takes care of a properly functioning ICT infrastructure at the mission and takes responsibility tofind solutions whenever malfunctions or other problems arise;

  • ensures that the mission receives effective ICT support when needed;

  • provides administrative support within the administrative cluster, including processing ofinvoices; assisting with petty cash management and related administration;

  • assists with personnel and contract administration;

  • prepares summary data sheet for VAT claims;

  • supports coordinating maintenance activities in the office;

  • helps organizing events at the residence and other venues;

  • takes care of the CRM system when needed;

  • provides administrative and operational support to the secretariat when needed;

  • provides operational support to the EA section during trade missions-fairs and or other largescale events;

  • provides operational support for preparations of missions and or visits of high dignitaries;

  • writes and submits note verbales;

  • executes other administrative tasks that might require attention.

 

Requirements

Candidates need to meet the following requirements:

  • a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a secretarial or administrative position;

  • experience in working in an embassy or working with embassies or governmental organisations ispreferred;

  • good knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,Outlook etc.);

  • good technical/ administrative knowledge, and understanding of related organisational andfunctional relationships;

  • strong communication skills in English and Arabic;

  • team player with strong interpersonal skills;

  • independent and goal oriented; flexible; can manage stress well;

  • with strong organisational skills;

Work Environment

The Embassy is located on the 14th floor of the Centro Capital Centre near ADNEC. The Embassy works closely with the Consulate-General in Dubai and Dutch Embassies in the region. There are diplomats from both the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as well as other Dutch ministries working at the Embassy, together with locally employed staff.

The Embassy operates on the basis of the ‘one team’-principle, of which flexibility and solidarity are key elements. The Embassy team communicates in Dutch and English. The administrative cluster often has to deal with a variety of different tasks at the same time, which requires both good planning skills and a flexible attitude to the work environment.

Employment conditions

The successful candidate may, depending on qualifications and work experience, expect to receive a monthly salary of at least AED 16085,50 plus a monthly housing allowance equal to 16,67% of the monthly salary amount. It concerns a substitute/temporary position for a period of 6 months, starting on 15-04-2026 and ending on 15-10-2026 that cannot be renewed after this period.
