Finding solutions together

The UAE has taken advantage of its geographic location to develop a thriving aviation and aerospace sector. In recent decades the UAE’s many airlines have grown tremendously and the region’s airports have become hubs that connect east and west. The UAE has built on this to further expand its domestic aviation and aerospace sector. This has created opportunities for Dutch companies to showcase their expertise in design and engineering.

NACO – Midfield Terminal

Together with KPF and ARUP, NACO (a company of Royal HaskoningDHV) submitted the winning design for the new Midfield Terminal Complex at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The project which commenced in 2006 will ensure that the new terminal will eventually be able to cater for up to 40 million passengers a year.

Concentrating on the airport related disciplines, NACO developed the airport master plan for the new terminal complex including the facility planning (sizing of the facilities). Furthermore, NACO was responsible for all the design phases of the airside infrastructure, the special airport systems in and around the new terminal and all related landside works for the new terminal within the airport premises.
