Born on June 14, 1969, in Hattem, Netherlands, he holds a Master's degree in Political Science/International Relations from Leiden University.

Before his posting to Kinshasa, he worked from 2022 as Head of the Crisis Unit at the VCI Directorate of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.

From 2017 to 2021, he was Deputy Head of the Central and Southeastern Europe Division, also in The Hague.

From 2012 to 2016, he served as Deputy Ambassador to Beirut, Lebanon. He has also held various positions at the Dutch embassies in Rome, Paris, and Kabul, as well as at the Ministry headquarter, as mentioned above.

He joined the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996 (30 years ago). Ambassador Jacco Bos speaks five languages: Dutch, English, French, German and Italian.
