The Netherlands invests in a better enabling environment for economic growth and (foreign) investment in Tanzania. The Netherlands seeks synergies between the Dutch and Tanzanian economic interests and works with a platform approach to bring stakeholders together to create mutual benefits. The Netherlands supports Startups growth since they are perceived as accelerators of job creation, youth employment and sustained economic growth.

Tanzania has great potential to further develop as an efficient regional gateway through development of inland corridors and the main ports of Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar. The Netherlands’ support for strengthening efficient logistics and ports is also closely linked to our strategic work on agriculture and food systems. The Netherlands promotes the growth of Sustainable tourism.

The Netherlands also focuses on cross-cutting themes of sustainable development, digitalization, and support for young (female) entrepreneurs through various hubs in the country, such as Westerwelle, Anza, I4policy, and She Found. This initiatives aim to strengthen the startup ecosystem in Tanzania. The complex contemporary transitions that the Netherlands faces today demand smart and innovative future-proof solutions. Hence, the Embassy supports organizations such as the Tanzania Fintech Association and the Zanzibar Startup Policy to ensure that youth are supported in achieving such goals.
Women's empowerment and gender mainstreaming have been key focuses of the Embassy in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5. Collaborating with local organizations such as Doyenne and She Found has helped ensure an increase in women’s leadership and participation in political decision making.
