Our colleagues are happy to help you!
The Netherlands has vast knowledge and innovation in agriculture, which makes them the second exporters of agricultural products globally.
In Tanzania, the Netherlands has invested in agriculture mainly in horticulture, potatoes, aquaculture, and poultry. The Netherlands expects the investments and the trade in the agriculture sector grows considerably in the coming years. Tanzania is the food basket for the East African region and will become a more important supplier for the rest of the world in future.
To support the sector developments, the Netherlands Embassy creates platforms for discussions, linkages and strengthen economic ties between Tanzania and the Netherlands but also contributes to the global pursuit of sustainable and efficient agricultural solutions. The Embassy believes in partnerships and collaboration. Working together with knowledge institutes, research, and private sector yields to development of sustainable agricultural solutions.
For instance,  in the horticulture and potato sectors, dialogues revealed that availability and access to quality seeds are one of the sectors bottlenecks. The Embassy is working close with sector associations like TAHA, TAHA Fresh Ltd and SAGCOT Center in turning the challenges to opportunities. In the livestock sector, amongst others, feeds, genetics, and animal health are areas of concern. The agriculture team is working close with the Poultry Association, Aquaculture Association and with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries to make the difference through enabling environment for private sector investment. The Netherlands will keep its focus on building partnerships that are beneficial for this sector and its stakeholders."
