Protecting Healthcare in a Digital Age: Cybersecurity Seminar

News item | 29-08-2025 | 09:42

In an era where digital innovation is transforming healthcare, cybersecurity has never been more crucial. On Thursday 23 October, Swedish and Dutch experts will come together for a seminar focused on strengthening cybersecurity in healthcare, highlighting shared challenges and opportunities between the two countries. Hosted at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the event will showcase the Netherlands' leadership in healthcare cybersecurity and its commitment to deeper collaboration with Sweden.

Swedish-Dutch Cybersecurity in Healthcare Seminar

The afternoon will begin with insights from the Dutch government on addressing cybersecurity threats in healthcare, followed by a presentation of Northwave’s latest Threat Intelligence Report, revealing emerging cyber threats and trends in the health sector.

Cyberattacks and sabotage targeting critical infrastructure such as water, energy, and communication systems, are increasingly frequent. As healthcare and medtech become more dependent on internet and energy, preparedness for potential infrastructure attacks is vital. Like other essential sectors, digital resilience and sovereignty are becoming key priorities. An expert panel will discuss these issues in depth.

The second half of the afternoon will focus on securing health data. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) initiative aims to enable secure and efficient health data sharing across the EU. While EHDS promises better accessibility and improved care, it also raises significant cybersecurity challenges. An expert panel will explore these risks and the growing importance of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) as a forward-looking data protection strategy.
