Program for European Festival: Ukrainian Spring released

European Festival: Ukrainian Spring reflects Europe's diverse musical and cultural landscape and emphasizes Ukraine's role in a shared heritage and future.

A special highlight is the screening of Divia - a documentary that was produced with support from the Netherlands Film Fund. Divia is a meditative, sound-driven journey through a wounded country - a portrait of Ukraine through the forces of nature before, during, and beyond the full-scale invasion. Ash-grey forests, crater-filled fields and rusting skeletons of war machines fill the frame - each motif a trace of violence etched into the ground. And yet, nature does not stand still. Grass breaks through the burnt earth and a slow but persistent regrowth begins.

Music plays a central role in this documentary, and is composed by British composer Sam Slater, twice Grammy Award winner for his work on Joker and HBO series Chernobyl.

The documentary is directed by Dmytro Hreshko. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with producers Tasia Puhach, Glib Lukianets, and Oleksandr Legostaev about the film's creation, its artistic choices, and the role of nature as a witness in times of war.

Ambassador Joost Reintjes will open the screening with short word of welcome.
