Singapore and the Netherlands share a strong maritime past. We are both outward-looking, future-oriented, and deeply innovative societies that collaborate in areas such as deeptech and semicon.

On 8 May, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Michiel Sweers, visited Singapore to meet his counterparts here and engage several Dutch companies and entrepreneurs across the maritime and high-tech sectors.

He had productive meetings with Ms Jane Lim, Deputy Secretary (Trade and Economic Relations) at Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI); and with Mr Jermaine Loy, Managing Director at Singapore's Economic Development Board (EDB). He also met with SVP Hakan Erdemir from ASM and other Dutch companies during his visit.

Overall, the engagements with different stakeholders affirmed the importance of the longstanding partnership between Singapore and the Netherlands, established over decades of trust and cooperation.
