On 11 April, H.E. Ambassador Anneke Adema was interviewed live on MoneyFM 89.3’s Saturday Morning Show, hosted by Glenn van Zutphen, where she reflected on the strength of the bilateral relationship between Singapore and the Netherlands.

During the interview, Ambassador Anneke spoke about the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a milestone she recently marked by hosting a special lunch at the Netherlands residence earlier this year.

She highlighted why the Netherlands considers Singapore one of its most important partners in Asia, and how the common values of both countries continue to anchor their relationship.

Host Glenn van Zutphen noted that “Holland was really at the forefront of Singapore developing the way that it is today”, pointing to key historical figures such as Dutch economic advisor Dr Albert Winsemius as among the most important Dutch contributors to Singapore’s early development. (Dr Albert Winsemius served as Singapore's Chief Economic Adviser for 25 years, working closely with Singapore's founding leaders like Lee Kuan Yew, Goh Keng Swee, and Hon Sui Sen.)

The conversation touched on the deep ties between the two nations, spanning trade, maritime cooperation, the green transition, digital innovation, and people-to-people exchange. Ambassador Anneke also reflected on her priorities since arriving in Singapore in 2022 and the evolving role of diplomacy in an increasingly uncertain world.
