Roger van Laak has been Deputy Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the European Union since 2022. 
Ambassador Roger van Laak is currently The Netherlands’ representative in the EU’s Political and Security Committee. Before taking up his current position he was Head of the Political Department at the Netherlands’ Embassy in Washington DC. Previous positions include, among others, Head of the Crisis Management and Peacekeeping Operations Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and postings to The Netherlands’ Permanent Representation to the EU as Relex counselor and the Netherlands’ Embassy in Berlin. Mr. Van Laak has been with the Dutch Foreign Ministry since 1997 and holds a Master of Laws degree from Leiden University.
