With the current climate change and aging infrastructure the Philippines is faced with flooding and water shortage in the same year. Every year flooding is becoming a bigger problem for urban area’s, dredging is not helping and more robust long term solutions have to be considered. The water utilities have over 35% water losses in the network and at the same time many pumping stations are in-efficiently operating with old big pumps and wrong layout causing failures and high energy cost.
The farmers are suffering from ever hotter dry season causing water shortage, and field flooding during the rainy season.
