The Netherlands at Fieldays

Last week our Embassy team hit the road and headed to Hamilton to support Dutch companies who were exhibiting at Fieldays – the Southern hemisphere’s largest agricultural expo and trade fair.

Highlights of the week

This year’s Fieldays was the biggest in the expo’s history with 1100 stalls set up across the Mystery Creek venue. In short – it’s the place to be for all things agriculture!

We loved seeing so many Dutch businesses on display this year. From CowManager, Lely and CRV Ambreed, to the likes of HansKamp, Samen and Schippers – the contributions that Dutch innovations continue to make to the primary sector in New Zealand can’t be understated.

Highlights of the week included attending an insightful morning tea hosted by the Dutch Business Association (DBA), where our colleagues from the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and the ambassador joined the Q&A session.

Other highlights include a Rabobank working breakfast and panel discussion with New Zealand’s Minister of Trade and Agriculture, Hon. Todd McLay, and a jam-packed agenda of talks, visits and demonstrations to celebrate the positive impact the EU-NZ FTA has had on primary industries across New Zealand. By the start of 2025, two-way trade between the Netherlands and New Zealand was valued at $2.44bn NZD and is projected to grow even further! The primary sector is one area where we know we can continue to support, innovate and grow with each other.

The Netherlands and New Zealand truly are natural partners – we both have a deep respect for the land, world class agricultural expertise and a spirit of openness and collaboration. Fieldays was an opportunity for us to see that partnership in action and we can’t wait for the event in 2027!

The Embassy team is always looking for new partnerships and opportunities to collaborate on new projects. Feel free to reach out, we look forward to connecting!
