Spotlight: Lely at Fieldays - New Zealand
Spotlight: Lely at Fieldays
Both the Netherlands and New Zealand are global leaders in agriculture and horticulture. The increasing demand for sustainably sourced food and farming practices has meant it is all the more important to collaborate on innovative solutions.
Spotlight: Lely
One of the prominent Dutch businesses that returned to Fieldays this year is Lely. A long-standing attendee of Fieldays, they were there to showcase their newest solutions for the future of sustainable farming.
At Fieldays, our Embassy team caught up with Rick Majoor, Lely’s Marketing Manager for Oceania, who shared more about Lely’s operations in New Zealand. For more than 20 years Lely has been on the ground in the region and continues to grow its presence in New Zealand. You can find two Lely Centers here in New Zealand, in Waikato and the Manawatu. These centers provide 24/7 support to their customers, ensuring that support is there when it’s most needed.
Lely’s core mission is to make farming as sustainable and as profitable as possible, while keeping animal welfare at the centre of their operations.
With dairy farming being one of New Zealand’s largest primary industries, Lely is well placed to share years of Dutch expertise with Kiwi farmers up and down the country, helping them to improve the milking process and animal wellbeing. In short, Lely provides solutions to improve the lives of the cow and the farmer.
At Fieldays, visitors were able to get a firsthand look at the newest innovations, such as the Lely Astronaut A5 Next and the Lely Grazeway, both farming solutions that can make a real difference for New Zealand farmers and their herds.
Rick shared how these solutions are a perfect fit for Kiwi farming. With most New Zealand dairy herds grazing outdoors year-round, Lely robots enable cows to roam freely by letting them choose their own milking times and drafting them to the best available pasture. It’s a seamless blend of technology that improves animal welfare, ensures environmental benefits and fits perfectly into the Kiwi farming lifestyle.
