This year's line-up for the International Film Festival features the Dutch movie Rietland (Reedland). The Embassy supported this movie, since we're always happy to bring Dutch culture and language to Aoteoroa New Zealand.

Dutch movie at New Zealand International Film Festival

Movies are a beautiful way to exchange culture. We were proud that a critically acclaimed Dutch movie was selected for the New Zealand International Film Festival, this August. The embassy supported the movie Rietland (Reedland), which is a slow-burn thriller set in a very Dutch landscape - more precisely, the film takes place in the province of Friesland. The movie has been selected for the prestigious Cannes Critics’ Week.

Our ambassador met director Sven Bresser during the opening night of Reedland in Wellington. Our embassador gave a short introduction for the movie, also discussing cultural exchanges between the Netherlands and Aoteoroa New Zealand. The presence of the movie for the festival highlights the vibrant connection between Dutch and New Zealand cinema, fostering creativity and cultural exchange.

But Reedland is not the only Dutch movie in this August's film festivals. The line-up for DocEdge features, among many other interesting documentaries, three Dutch ones.
