Embassy Tulip Award 2026 – Call for Nominations
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mozambique is proud to launch the 4th Edition of the Embassy Tulip Award 2026, recognising individuals and organisations whose courage, commitment and innovation contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights in Mozambique. The Embassy Tulip Award celebrates those who work every day to advance human rights, strengthen communities and inspire positive change across Mozambique. Through this award, the Embassy seeks to recognise outstanding contributions while supporting initiatives that continue to make a meaningful impact.
Embassy Tulip Award 2026 – Call for Nominations
Who can be nominated?
Individuals or organisations working in Mozambique that have
demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the promotion, protection
or advancement of human rights.
Nominees may work independently or
be affiliated with civil society organisations, community-based
organisations, academia, media, social movements or the private sector.
Who can nominate?
Anyone can submit a nomination.
Individuals, organisations,
institutions and members of the public are invited to nominate a human
rights defender or organisation whose work deserves recognition and
support.
Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Embassy Tulip Award 2026 Nomination
The
nomination should consist of:
🎥 One nomination video (maximum 2
minutes) explaining:
• Who you are nominating;
• Why
they deserve to receive the Embassy Tulip Award;
• How their
work contributes to the promotion and protection of human rights in
Mozambique.
Videos may be recorded using a mobile phone and may be
submitted in English or Portuguese.
Nomination deadline
All nominations must be submitted by 21 July 2026 at 23:59
(Maputo time).
Late submissions will not be considered.
Selection process
Phase 1 – Open Call for Nominations
An
open call invites anyone to nominate an individual or organisation by
submitting a short nomination video.
Phase 2 – Technical Review
& Shortlisting
The Embassy will conduct an eligibility review
and technical pre-selection of all nominations received. An internal
review committee will then select three to five finalists.
Phase 3
– Finalist Video Statement
Shortlisted finalists will be invited
to submit a short video:
• accepting their nomination; and
• explaining how they would strategically use the EUR 5,000 Embassy
Tulip Award to strengthen and increase the impact of their human
rights work.
Phase 4 – Jury Assessment
An independent jury
composed of previous Embassy Tulip Award winners, representatives from
civil society and the human rights community will assess the finalists
using the official Human Rights Tulip scorecard and recommend one
winner.
Phase 5 – Ambassador Validation
The final
recommendation will be validated by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands before the winner is officially announced.
What the winner receives
The Embassy Tulip Award winner will
receive:
• EUR 5,000 to strengthen or expand their human rights
work;
• official recognition from the Embassy of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands in Mozambique;
• an opportunity to increase the
visibility and impact of their work through Embassy communication channels.

The Embassy Tulip Award is a recognition initiative organised by
the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mozambique.
The
Embassy is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent and inclusive
selection process that reflects the values of human rights, integrity
and equal opportunity.
