Defence Attaché Laine Den Hollander Awarded Lithuanian Medal of Merit
Today we celebrate another remarkable milestone as our Defence Attaché Laine Den Hollander receives a Medal of Merit from the Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania — a heartfelt recognition of five years of unwavering dedication and partnership. During his tenure, the military cooperation between the Netherlands and Lithuania has flourished like never before. Together, our countries have strengthened ties within the EU and NATO, deepening a bond built on shared values and mutual respect.
In his own words, “In these last 5 years I have met so many special
persons who inspired me with their knowledge, professionalism,
patriotism, and above all, everyone’s willingness to help each other.
Keep this spirit alive — it makes Lithuania a great country with great
people. I promise I will never forget Lithuania and its wonderful
people.”
And we are sure that Lithuania’s allies will also
remember his hard work, dedication, and the sincere friendships he has
nurtured - bonds that go beyond formal ties. As the Lithuanian Deputy
Minister of Defence Karolis Aleksa beautifully said, “Your experience
and professionalism will be deeply missed. You leave behind not only
stronger bonds between our countries but lasting people-to-people
ties. Your sense of duty, combined with your wit, has made you a dear
friend of Lithuania.”
As we soon bid farewell to Laine, we
will do so with immense gratitude and admiration. His legacy of
friendship, professionalism, and dedication will continue to inspire
all who have had the privilege of working alongside him. We look
forward to carrying this strong partnership into the future, confident
that the bonds he has forged will only grow deeper with time.
