Our Ambassador Caecilia Wijgers, Deputy Ambassador Gilles Goedhart, Defence Attaché Thijs Jansen and Political-Military Advisor Vincent van Roon visited yesterday the Dutch troops serving in the NATO Multinational Battle Group (MNBG) in Rukla. “I wanted to come here as soon as possible after my arrival, to learn more about the important work our Dutch military are doing here and to see their contribution to NATO collective defence, first-hand,” the Ambassador said.

Hosted by the Dutch Senior National Representative, LtCol Patrick van der Steen, the delegation met with Dutch military serving in the MNBG, who shared more about their work and the role they play in strengthening NATO’s collective security.

The deployment is an important part of the close cooperation between the Netherlands, Lithuania and other NATO Allies. Through serving

 and training together, Allied forces build trust, strengthen readiness and contribute to a safer Europe.

We are proud of everyone serving in the MNBG and grateful for their continued dedication to collective defence. This visit was also a reminder that strength lies in unity and a shared commitment to security. Strong cooperation between armed forces alongside committed diplomacy, built on trust and common values, remain essential to keeping our countries and Europe safe.
