Celebrating 75 Years of Partnership
On Thursday 12 February, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Jordan, H.E. Mrs. Stella Kloth, hosted a reception at her residence to mark the launch of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Jordan and the Netherlands, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Daifallah Al Fayez.
The event brought together the Embassy’s close partners and contacts, alongside members of the Dutch community in Jordan.
Official diplomatic relations between the two countries date back to 16 December 1951, when an exchange of letters between their respective envoys formally established bilateral ties. Since then, the relationship has evolved into a multifaceted partnership, marked by close cooperation and coordination across a wide range of sectors and at multiple levels from the two royal families and governments, to businesses and people.
During the event, a new logo commemorating the 75 years anniversary was unveiled. The logo is a simple, modern typographic design, that incorporates the colour orange, to symbolize the Netherlands, and red to symbolize Jordan, reflecting the depth and continuity of the bilateral relationship.
In her address, Ambassador Kloth emphasized the importance of collaboration and people-to-people ties as the foundation of the Jordanian–Dutch partnership. She reflected on the evolution of bilateral relations over the past 75 years: from the establishment of diplomatic ties in the 1950s, to growing cooperation between the two royal families, the opening of embassies in the 1990s, to today’s close collaboration on issues of shared priority.
“Our partnership with Jordan is built on trust, shared values, and the strong connections between our people,” Ambassador Stella said. “As we mark 75 years of diplomatic relations, we are celebrating our rich history and reaffirming our commitment to working side by side on the issues that matter to both our countries.”
In addition, the Ambassador highlighted the Netherlands’ continued support to Jordan, noting that approximately 400 million euro will be committed over the next four years in the areas of security and stability, refugee reception, trade and investment and water.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will commemorate this milestone throughout the year, leading up to 16 December 2026, through events and across their social media channels. During her speech, the Ambassador noted that the Embassy will use this year to highlight the many stories, people and initiatives that make up the Dutch–Jordanian partnership.
