About World Press Photo Exhibition 2025

The World Press Photo Exhibition 2025 presents the winning works from the annual photo contest, showcasing the world’s best and most important photojournalism and documentary photography. This year’s winning works, selected from over 59,000 entries by 3,778 photographers, document a wide range of global issues, from politics, gender and migration to conflict and the climate crisis. It includes the work of Indonesian photographer Mas Agung Wilis Yudha Baskoro, who won the singles category for the Asia-Pacific and Oceania regions for his photo on the impact of nickel mining on Halmahera Island.

The contest uses a regional contest model launched in 2021 to support a greater diversity of stories and storytellers, offering a more comprehensive global perspective. Independent and highly qualified jury members from six worldwide regions, including Yoppy Pieter from Jakarta, bring their professional expertise and regional knowledge to judge the stories within their cultural, political, and social contexts. As a result, the exhibited works capture not only struggles and defiance, but also human warmth and courage, inviting visitors to look beyond the daily news cycle and think critically about the important topics in our world.
