The "State of Fashion: Perspectives On.. Weaving Threads" exhibition officially opened at Erasmus Huis, Jakarta, on November 1, 2025. The exhibition showcases the creative collaboration between Dutch visual artist Nazif Lopulissa and Indonesian textile collaborative Studio Sejauh. It focuses on the deep cultural and symbolic significance of weaving in Indonesia, connecting the ties between warp and weft, artist and artisan and tradition and innovation.

The opening featured remarks by Director of State of Fashion, Iris Ruisch, and Erasmus Huis Director Nicolaas de Regt, highlighting the valuable cultural exchange achieved through the artist residency. State of Fashion, an intercontinental fashion platform based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, aims to showcase alternatives to the current fashion system by explicitly connecting fashion with urgent societal questions and challenges.

The exhibition itself, taking place in the foyer of Erasmus Huis, features works resulting from a 10-day residency at Studio Sejauh and Craft Denim in Pekalongan. During the residency, Lopulissa and Chitra Subyakto, Indonesian fashion designer and founder of Studio Sejauh, experimented with the concept of the "independence of cloth," emphasizing the freedom to produce, think, and create outside extractive systems. Studio Sejauh, part of Sejauh Mata Memandang, applies its practice rooted in care, collaboration, and the circular life of materials. Ultimately, each fabric stands as both object and method, embodying exchange, connection, and care.

The exhibition runs until December 24, 2025, at Erasmus Huis.
