About Litter Critters
The exhibition takes us into the unique world of Dutch biologist and visual artist Arike Gill. During the COVID-19 lockdowns she walked a lot in Dutch city parks, nature reserves, and along the beach. Accompanied by her two children and a field guide, she went looking for little animals. She did find little animals, but she also became inspired by the enormous amount of litter they came across. She collected candy wrappers, empty cans, face masks and other litters. She started to make drawings of what she called litter critters. Arike also gives these newcomers in nature a place in the classical Dutch school posters by M.A. Koekkoek.
At the exhibition you can also create your own litter critter and bring it to life to the beautiful Indonesian landscape. Be part of the exhibition!
