Educational & Cultural Visit to Depok
Dutch Ambassador Marc Gerritsen, joined by Education and Science Attaché Yvonne Klerks and embassy staff, visited Depok for educational and cultural visit.
Dutch Ambassador Marc Gerritsen, joined by Education and Science Attaché Yvonne Klerks and embassy staff, visited the University of Indonesia (UI) on a day dedicated to strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia.
The visit began with a courtesy meeting with UI Vice Rectors, including Prof. Heri Hermansyah and his team, where discussions focused on the longstanding collaboration between UI and Dutch institutions — both through direct university partnerships and Embassy-facilitated initiatives. Key topics included ongoing and potential future joint programs in areas such as law and Dutch studies.
The delegation then joined an informal gathering with Dutch alumni from UI’s Faculty of Law, followed by a brief tour of the student hall and a multidisciplinary laboratory — a facility that stands as a tangible result of a cyber project funded by the Dutch government.
A highlight of the visit was an engaging session with students from the Faculty of Humanities, where Ambassador Marc participated in a discussion on the shared history between the Netherlands and Indonesia, underlining the importance of continued dialogue and academic exchange.
The day concluded with a warm and festive stop in Depok Lama at the invitation of Depok Mayor Supian Suri. Ambassador Marc was received by Vice Mayor Chandra Rahmansyah and extended his appreciation for the city’s warm hospitality and commitment to local engagement.
