The month of April marked an important step forward in bilateral cooperation, with a delegation from the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security visiting Indonesia to engage in dialogue with key institutions in the fields of justice and security.

The delegation joined justice professionals from around the world at the 7th World Congress on Probation and Parole (WCPP), hosted by Indonesia in Bali. The Congress provided a valuable platform to exchange best practices, compare approaches to rehabilitation and reintegration, and position both countries within a broader global conversation on modern, humane justice systems.

Beyond the Congress, the delegation held a series of focused meetings with some of Indonesia's most significant institutions: Indonesian Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, Indonesian Supreme Court, Indonesian Financial Services Authority, and Rule of Law Network of the Netherlands.

This visit reflects a shared commitment between Indonesia and the Netherlands to build justice systems that are fair, effective, and forward-looking. The conversations held this week are not just diplomatic courtesies, they are the foundation for tangible programmes, knowledge exchange, and lasting institutional partnerships.
An excellent step forward, and a strong signal of what Indonesia-the Netherlands cooperation can achieve.
