The first talk held alongside the exhibition “Clogs, Tulips and Video Games: Game Design from the Netherlands” took place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Erasmus Huis. Titled “Coffee, Cookies and Game Culture”, the morning discussion and networking session brought together two national game industry bodies: the Dutch Games Association (DGA) and Asosiasi Game Indonesia (AGI).

The panel featured DGA General Manager Martine Spaans, exhibition curator and game developer Arjan Terpstra, and AGI Deputy of Research and Data Vincentius Ismawan. The discussion was moderated by Timothy Alden Marantika, an alumnus of the Game Technology program at Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif Jakarta.

The discussion highlighted the characteristics and growth strategies of the gaming industries in both countries. Martine Spaans presented the Netherlands’ ecosystem and highlighted the unique traits of Dutch games, describing them as innovative, daring, peculiar, critical, and progressive. In turn, Vincentius Ismawan outlined Indonesia’s rapid development, key programs developed by the association, and its annual milestone event, the Indonesia Game Developer Exchange (IDGX). Arjan Terpstra also shared his insights into curating Dutch games for an international audience and developing games for different markets.

The event concluded with an informal networking session over coffee and cookies, including the traditional Dutch stroopwafels. The session allowed students, game developers, indie creators, and industry leaders to connect directly and exchange creative ideas within the global gaming community

“Clogs, Tulips and Video Games: Game Design from the Netherlands” Exhibition runs at Erasmus Huis until August 29, 2026.
