Dutch Ambassador met Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Ambassador Marc Gerritsen held a productive meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro.
Together, they explored exciting opportunities to deepen the longstanding partnership between the Netherlands and Indonesia in the fields of higher education and science.
The discussion highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral
collaboration, fostering joint research initiatives, and the
importance of national archives. Key sectors such as agriculture,
water management, and energy – areas where Dutch expertise is
internationally recognized – took center stage. Both sides also
expressed enthusiasm for creating pathways to welcome more Dutch
students to Indonesia, enriching academic and cultural exchanges.
The meeting was further enriched by the presence of
education attachés from both countries, Yvonne Klerks and Agus
Setiabudi, whose expertise will be crucial in turning plans into
reality. Their collaborative efforts underscore the shared commitment
of both nations to build a partnership that benefits everyone
involved.
Ambassador Marc presented Minister Satryo with a
congratulatory letter from Dutch's Minister of Education, Culture, and
Science, Eppo Bruins, alongside a piece of Delft Blue – a timeless
symbol of the Netherlands and a nod to Minister Satryo’s birthplace of
Delft.
We extend our gratitude to the Indonesia's Ministry of Higher
Education, Science, and Technology for the gracious reception. This
meeting marks another step forward in strengthening the bonds between
the Netherlands and Indonesia, paving the way for impactful
