In a continued effort to strengthen economic ties between the Netherlands and Indonesia, Dutch Ambassador Marc Gerritsen held high-level meetings last week with Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and the newly appointed Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani.
The discussions centered around deepening bilateral economic cooperation and preparing for the upcoming Dutch economic mission to Indonesia in June. The mission will be led by Reinette Klever, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, and is expected to bring a strong delegation of Dutch companies and institutions seeking to explore trade and investment opportunities in Indonesia.
During the meeting with Minister Hartarto, Ambassador Marc reaffirmed the Netherlands’ support for Indonesia’s aspirations to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He also stressed the importance of concluding the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), noting its potential to significantly enhance trade flows and economic collaboration.
In his meeting with Minister Roeslani, Ambassador Marc highlighted the value Dutch companies place on a stable and predictable business climate. He emphasized that the Netherlands has long been one of Indonesia’s leading European investors, with many Dutch businesses eager to expand their footprint in the country. Minister Roeslani acknowledged the Netherlands' key role and expressed optimism for further strengthening investment cooperation.
Both meetings reflected the long-standing, warm relations between the two nations and a shared commitment to boosting trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth.
