On February 27 2026, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Netherlands War Graves Foundation in Indonesia jointly held a commemoration ceremony marking the anniversary of the Battle of the Java Sea at Ereveld Kembang Kuning, Surabaya, East Java.
The ceremony was attended by Honorary Consuls and Consuls General of Allied nations, representatives of the Indonesian Armed Forces, the East Java Governor's Office, and the Mayor of Surabaya, alongside members of the public. World War II in the Pacific theatre. It stands as a reaffirmation of
our shared commitment to peace, dignity, and the enduring importance
of historical remembrance.
